The A Priori Argument

Man is in a most desperate condition because of Adam’s sin. Man is inclined away from God, ignorant of God’s purposes and methods of salvation and incapable of returning to God in His own strength. God is love, omnipotent, righteous and just as well as holy, omniscient, loving and kind and omnipresent.

Therefore, it is not reasonable that a God Who is love would leave man in such a desperate condition and not give him a guide that would reveal to him

1. Knowledge of God.
2. Knowledge of God’s plan for man.
3. Knowledge of how man became alienated from God.
4. Knowledge of how to be reconciled to God.

This guide for man is the Bible. It is a written revelation of God. God’s omnipotence makes its production possible. God’s omniscience enables its content. God’s holiness justifies its necessity. God’s righteousness and justice assures its inerrancy.

1. “You search the Scriptures, for in them you think you have eternal life and they are they which testify of Me.” John 5:39.
2. “Now all these things happened to them as examples and they were written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the ages have come.” 1 Corinthians 10:11.
3. “All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.” 2 Timothy 3:16,17.
