"So the last will be first, and the first last. For many are called, but few chosen." Matthew 20:16

Take God's Work Seriously
Work faithfully by the Anointing of the Holy Ghost!

by Dr. Reve' M. Pete

"Now I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse. And He who sat on him was called Faithful and true, and in righteousness He judges and makes war....And the armies in heaven, clothed in fine linen, white and clean, followed Him on white horses." Revelation 19: 11, 14

The Lord's work should be undertaken at His instruction. Jesus IS Lord, and should be Lord of all our endeavors. Apostle Paul said, "For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God." Romans 8:14

Jesus said, "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature." Mark 16:15. By doing what Jesus has called us to do, we fulfill what He as commanded. If He has called us to sing, we sing. If He has called us to preach or to pray, we do it. Whatever the Lord Jesus has called us to do, we do it. Whatever the Lord does is right. (Psalm 19:7-11)

As we obey our Lord's call, we mus remember what He said in Zechariah 4:6, "So he answered and said to me, 'This is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel: Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit', says the Lord of hosts." This means the work we undertake is to be done by the ability (anointing) that the Holy Ghost gives us. When we allow the Holy Ghost to work through us, He is able to do exceeding abundantly above what we can ask or think (Ephesians 3:20) and we maximize our effectiveness.

Whatever the Lord calls us to do must be done faithfully. In the parable of the talents, Jesus said the lord of the two industrious servants told each of them, "Well done good and faithful servant; you have been faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things." (Matthew 25:21,23) Promotion comes from the Lord and Him alone. He judges each of us according to whether or not we have been faithful to complete the task He assigned us. If we complete the task, He will give us another assignment involving greater responsibility within the Kingdom of God. (Matthew 25:29)

There is no need for us to compare ourselves with anyone else. Nor is there need to compare our work with anyone else's. God judges each of us separately. He gives us assignments according to our individual abilities. (Matthew 25:15) It is up to each of us to do what He has called us to do and do it well. Then, we will each have the satisfaction of knowing that we have pleased the Lord. (Galatians 6:4,5)

I believe there is coming a day when we will all find out how faithful we have been to the Lord. Revelation 19:11-16 speaks of Jesus coming to earth to fight the Battle of Armageddon. With Him will come the Saints of God, riding on white horses. I beleive the saints will be riding in ranks. The Scriptures do not explicitly say this, but I believe that those persons who were faithful to the Lord will have a higher rank and will ride at the front of the line. Those who were not faithful will be at the back of the line.

"So the last will be first, and the first last. For many are called, but few chosen." Matthew 20:16

"And indeed there are last who will be first, and there are first who will be last." Luke 13:30

"Likewise you younger people, submit yourselved to your elders. Yes, all of you be submissive to one another, and be clothed with humility, for God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble." 1 Peter 5:5 (Also see in Amplified Bible)

Regardless of who rides where, it is crucial that each of us take God's work seriously. Jesus is soon to come and there are yet many souls to be brought into the Kingdom of God. Apostle Paul said, "Therefore we make it our aim, whether present or absent, to be well pleasing to Him." 1 Corinthians 5:9 We take God's work seriously when we faithfully do what He has called us to do by the anointing of the Holy Ghost.
