How to Study the Bible

Bible Study Tools

  1. Bible, containing one or all of the following:

    1. Concordance – an alphabetical list of significant words used in the Bible, with references to the passages in which they occur.
      1. Some children’s bibles have a concordance dictionary.

    2. Reference Scriptures – scriptural notations that refer to another scripture or scriptures related to the verse in question.
      1. KJV Reference Bible
      2. Thompson Chain Reference Bibles

    3. Biblical Cyclopedic Index – special kind of subject index that combines concordance, topical index, reference scriptures and syllabus. It contains subjects, names, places, things, concepts and events.

    1. The Holy Spirit is very effective in any area of Bible study. In devotional study, He directs to scriptures that relate to specific situations in the life of that believer. In the research method, He enlightens on ways to apply the scriptures to the believer’s life.
