Psalm 46; Psalm 121; Food for Thought

Psalm 46

  • "God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, even though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; though its waters roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with its swelling.
  • There is a river whose streams shall make glad the city of God, the holy place of the tabernacle of the Most High. God is in the midst of her, she shall not be moved; God shall help her, just at the break of dawn. The nations raged, the kingdoms were moved; He uttered His voice, the earth melted.

  • THE LORD OF HOSTS IS WITH US; The God of Jacob is our refuge. Come, behold the works of the Lord, who has made desolations in the earth. He makes wars cease to the end of the earth; He breaks the bow and cuts the spear in two; He burns the chariot in the fire.

  • Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!

  • THE LORD OF HOSTS IS WITH US; the God of Jacob is our refuge."

Psalm 121

  • "I will lift up my eyes to the hills -- from whence comes my help? My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth.

  • He will not allow your foot to be moved; He who keeps you will not slumber. Behold, He who keeps Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep.

  • The Lord is your keeper; the Lord is your shade at your right hand. The sun shall not strike you by day, nor the moon by night. The Lord shall preserve you from all evil; He shall preserve your soul. The Lord shall preserve your going out and your coming in from this time forth, and even forevermore."

Food for Thought

  • "At that time Jesus went through the grainfields on the Sabbath. And His disciples were hungry, and began to pluck heads of grain and to eat. And when the Pharisees saw it, they said to Him, 'Look, Your disciples are doing what is not lawful to do on the Sabbath!' But He said to them, 'Have you not read what David did when he was hungry, he and those who were with him: how he entered the house of God and ate the showbread which was not lawful for him to eat, nor for those who were with him, but only for the priests?...But if you had known what this means, I desire mercy and not sacrifice, you would not have condemned the guiltless.'" Matthew 12:1-4,7

  • "Surely for your lifeblood I will demand a reckoning: from the hand of every beast, i will require it, and from the hand of man. From the hand of every man's brother I will require the life of man. Whoever sheds man's blood, by man his blood shall be shed; for in the image of God He made man." Genesis 9:5,6
